Women handle pain differently
Contrary to popular belief laboratory studies show that women have a lower pain threshold and a lower tolerance to pain than men. This is due to the different treatment of pain stimuli in the brain - where women are more certain brain areas activated for the emotional tinge of pain are responsible for men shows a greater activation in the knowledge-based and on the analytical areas of the brain. This also explains why more women with anxiety or depression respond, while men tend crowd, which often leads to chronic pain.
